Ironman challenges players to be entirely self-sufficient. This mode doesn’t allow you to interact with other players to trade, participate in minigames, and PvP. Ironmen accounts cannot even trade on the Grand Exchange. The only interaction you have available is conversation.
Ironmen must scavenge for supplies and do everything else themselves: craft items, equipment, and earn money.
In OSRS, money making as an Ironman differs dramatically from regular accounts. You can only get GP by selling items to NPCs or casting High Alchemy on items, which isn’t the best way to profit.
For that matter, we bring you the best Ironman money making OSRS methods, from the beginning stages to late game. We will help you on your Ironman journey and teach you how to earn coins best.
OSRS Ironman Money Making: Why Play as an Ironman
Playing as an Ironman is challenging due to all the restrictions the game imposes on such accounts. For this reason, Ironmen are considered to play OSRS on hard mode. There are also variations, Hardcore and Ultimate Ironman modes, with even more restrictions, including permadeath.
Players can choose to be on their own or part of an Ironman group. This feature, released in 2021, allows players to form groups of two to five other Ironmen or Hardcore Ironmen to tackle the rigorous challenges together.
Ironman mode is made for people who want to challenge their RuneScape knowledge and prove that they can survive on their own or just want to experience the game differently.
Also, there is a cool Ironman badge to show off to regular players.
OSRS Ironman Money Making: Why Do Ironmen Need Money?
Since you aim to be self-sufficient and make everything you need by yourself, you may think, “Why do I need money as an Ironman?.”
Money is required for progression in OSRS, and Ironman accounts are no exception. You’ll need the coins to purchase some items and gear you can’t get by yourself, to retrieve items from your grave, or to train skills like Magic, Construction, and Herblore.
There is one item that Ironmen buy or get from other players: bonds. With this item, you can pay for the membership in the game, which is another reason to have money in your pocket.
Ironman accounts do not need as many coins as regular accounts, but one thing remains true: Ironmen need money.
OSRS Ironman Money Making Methods
In OSRS, Money Making as an Ironman can be done by performing the same methods as regular accounts. However, the profit won’t be the same since you can only sell these items to NPCs, so Ironman's optimal money-making ways are usually different from the standard ones.
The following are the best money-making methods the Ironman community recommends for beginners to high-level players.
Low-level OSRS Ironman Money Making
These methods are fit for newcomers or first-time Ironman players. They are relatively easy and fast, ensuring a quick profit.
Stronghold of Security
The Stronghold of Security is a popular method for starters and a good way to make money early in the game. You don't need to meet any requirements; it is F2P, and the difficulty level is easy. Sadly, you can only do it once, but it will give you 10K GP easily and fast.
You can find the Stronghold of Security in the Barbarian Village. Just jump into the hole in the village’s center. This minigame consists of a series of questions related to account security, which must be answered to enhance the security of players' accounts and reach the reward.
There are monsters in the stronghold, so having food to heal up is strongly recommended.
Stealing Silk
Thieving is a good way for money making as an Ironman in OSRS, especially in the early game. Once you have level 20 in Thieving, you can steal silk from an NPC in Ardougne Market. This method is easy and, as long as you don’t get caught, safer than other methods.
The silk merchant is located north of Ardougne Market. Just fill your inventory with silk and bank it. The NPC won’t trade with you for the next 20 minutes, and when they forget you are a thief, you can sell the silk for 60 coins a piece and receive 14K Thieving experience per hour.
Stealing about 600 silks in an hour should ensure players make 36K GP.
Giant Foundry
The Giant Foundry is a minigame you can access after completing the Sleeping Giant quest. It is an excellent way to get money and Smithing experience.
For this OSRS Ironman money making method, you will need 15 Smithing and metal bars. You will have to keep checking the heat level while forging a giant sword, meaning it cannot get too high or too low.
The amount of gold you receive from this minigame will depend on the metal bar used, the tier of the sword, and its quality. We recommend getting mithril or steel bars by mining and smelting them to attain a profit rate of 200K GP/hour.
Mid-level OSRS Ironman Money Making
Now that you have reached a higher skill level, you can try more profitable methods. Ironman money making in OSRS is difficult; getting a lot of coins takes time, but with adequate skill level, and by following this guide, you can make all the gold you could possibly need in no time.
Slaying Gargoyles
Slayer is one of the most popular skills. The difference between this skill and Combat is that there are certain monsters that you can’t kill if you don’t have the required Slayer level or are not tasked by the Slayer Master.
Since you are an Ironman, you must carefully choose your opponents and go for those that give you the most money. A good method is doing Slayer Master Konar quo Maten’s task since the monsters encountered during the task drop Brimstone keys, which allow you to open Brimstone chests for additional loot and gold.
With Slayer level 75, you can start doing Gargoyle tasks, a method we recommended since these monsters drop lots of alchable items. Additionally, gargoyles yield a common 10K gold drop.
For slaying gargoyles, you’ll need the following:
- Priest in Peril quest completed
- Slayer 75+
- Defense 75 (85+ recommended)
- Attack 75 (85+ recommended)
- Strength 75 (85+ recommended)
- Magic 55 for high-level Alchemy
- Guthan the Infested's equipment
- Rock hammer
- Slayer helmet or Nose peg
- Runes to cast high-Level Alchemy
You can find the gargoyles in the basement and on the top floor of the Slayer Tower. To slay the ones in the basement, you will need to have a Gargoyle task active so you can enter the room where these monsters are. If you wear the Guthan set, this method becomes very AFK-friendly since its life leech effect heals you.
Blackjacking
Blackjacking is an excellent OSRS Ironman money making method to get Thieving XP and make money fast, and despite the name, it doesn’t involve gambling.
Blackjacking revolves around knocking out Menaphite Thugs in Pollnivneach and pickpocketing them twice while they are incapacitated. It is a straightforward method for making money.
For this method, you’ll need the following:
- Rogue Trader minigame complete
- The Feud quest completed
- Thieving 65 (80 recommended)
- Rogue equipment
You can level up fast and make up to 200K GP/hour. Keep in mind that if you fail to knock out the bandits, they become aggressive, and they’ll attack you.
Agility Pyramid
The Agility Pyramid is a P2P training area in the Kharidian Desert only available for players with Agility 30+. However, we recommend having at least 60 in Agility to easily pass the obstacles.
The Agility Pyramid requires the following:
- Agility 30 (60+ recommended)
- Hitpoints 20
- Waterskins
- Desert or graceful clothing
- Some food for healing
The goal is to reach the top of the pyramid and collect the pyramid’s top. You can sell the top for 10K to Simon Templeton, the NPC located at the bottom of the pyramid, making 200K GP/hour with the recommended Agility levels.
The desert heat can hurt you, so we recommended having waterskin to prevent this. You can also fall from the pyramid and take damage if you don’t have a high Agility level, so it is a good idea to bring some food, like Anchovy Pizza.
High-level OSRS Ironman Money Making
Finally, you reached the late game. Money making as an Ironman in OSRS isn’t an easy task, but fortunately, you can now take full advantage of the most profitable methods.
Killing Vorkath
Since you are an Ironman, you can make a ridiculous amount of GP by killing Vorkath because you must kill it alone. This dragon is one of the best money making methods in the game and one of the favorites in the community.
You’ll have to complete the Dragon Slayer II quest to apply this method. The requirements for killing Vorkath are quite high; you can check these and strategies in our Combat money making guide.
By killing Vorkath, you should expect a profit of 2.4M GP/hour if you at least perform 30-34 kills in that time. Vorkath drops blue dragonhides that can be tanned and sold for 60 coins.
Killing Rune and Green Dragons
Killing rune and green dragons is one of the most profitable methods for Ironmen. It is an amazing alternative to killing Vorkath if players don't meet the requirements. You can make a lot of gold per hour, but it requires high skill levels and a lot of items and equipment. Check our Combat and AFK money making guides to find the requirements to kill these dragons.
After completing the Dragon Slayer II quest, you can find rune dragons in the Lithkren Vault and the green dragons in the Myths Guilt’s basement. Wearing insulated boots makes killing rune dragons an AFK-friendly method due to the boots’ damage reduction buff.
At maximum efficiency, you can make 1.3M GP/hour for slaying rune dragons and 598K per hour for slaying the green ones. These also drop lots of alchable items like dragonhides and runite bars.
Runecrafting Blood Runes
Making blood runes is one of the best options to make money with Runecrafting, and for Ironmen, this is not an exception. Crafting blood runes requires lots of items and gear, a high Runecrafting level, and a high Agility level to take advantage of the shortcut.
The requirements are as follows:
- Sins of the Father quest completed
- Enter the Abyss quest completed (if using the Abyss)
- Runecrafting 77
- Blood tiara or talisman, catalytic tiara or talisman
- Colossal pouch
- Weight-reducing clothing
- Charged amulets of glory
- Elite Lumbridge & Draynor Diary (if using fairy rings)
- Raiments of the Eye set for additional runes and to replace a tiara
- Max, Crafting, or Construction cape for teleports (optional)
- Rings of dueling (optional)
- Agility 74 or 93 for shortcuts (optional)
- Mining 78 (optional)
Blood runes can be sold to Ali Morrisane in Al Kharid for 200 gold coins per piece. You will also get nearly 50K Runecrafting experience an hour.
Blood essences obtained in the Tomb of Amascut and the Raiments of the Eye will help you increase the rune drop chance by 50% and 60%, respectively.
OSRS Ironman Money Making: Tips and Strategies
- Questing could be a good strategy to make money as an Ironman, especially among newcomers. You can complete quick and easy quests like Prince Ali Rescue or Goblin Diplomacy to earn some early XP and gold.
- We highly recommend Ironmen to train Magic, Thieving, and Agility first. You’ll need these for the aforementioned low-level money making methods. Besides, you’ll need Magic to cast High Alchemy and transform your items into coins. Because Ironmen don’t have access to all teleports, it is good to have high levels of Agility for running around too.
OSRS Ironman Money Making: FAQ
What is the best Ironman money making method in OSRS?
Killing Vorkath has always been the most profitable, but you can try killing rune or green dragons if you don’t meet the requirements. You can also try other methods not listed in this guide, like the Hallowed Sepulcher or processing ores; just remember that your profit won’t be the same as on a regular account.
What is the fastest OSRS Ironman money making method?
You can do the Stronghold of Security in less than 10 minutes for 10K gold. It is a good method to make fast money, especially for new players, but the downside is that you can only do it once. Another method you can try is Blackjacking; it is easy, fast, and safe.
OSRS Ironman Money Making: Conclusion
Money Making as an Ironman in OSRS is challenging due to the trading restrictions, but it is also fun and more rewarding that way. It is possible to make lots of money as an Ironman, especially if you follow the methods presented in this guide.

Read postFletching is a member skill used to make ranged weapons and munitions. We are talking about bows, crossbows, darts, arrows, bolts, javelins, ballistae, and battlestaffs. Most of the items made with Fletching can be treated with High Alchemy, the most popular spell in the community to train Magic.
Money making with Fletching could be lucrative if you know what to do and have the right level of this skill. Low-level Fletching will make you lose money, so we recommend getting to higher levels first. With our guide, we’ll teach you how to level Fletching to the recommended level quickly.
In this article, we cover the most lucrative, easiest, and consistent Fletching money making methods. We'll provide tips and recommendations to maximize your profit. Sounds interesting? Let’s get into it.
Fletching Money Making OSRS: The Advantages
While money making with Fletching in OSRS is not the most profitable, it offers other advantages that make it stand out from the other skills.
For instance, Fletching is the easiest skill to level up; you can reach level 55 in two and a half hours, so high-level methods will be at your fingertips in no time. Another advantage of Fletching is that it requires minimal attention, which means it is very AFK-friendly.
To make money as a low-level fletcher, players can take advantage of Zero Time Methods. These methods do not interrupt player movement, which allows players to do other tasks and simultaneously train Fletching in, technically, ‘zero time’.
Making darts or tipless bolts can be done simultaneously with quests that require a lot of running, Agility training, hunting, or Slayer, as long as these activities do not ask for much space in your inventory. This makes Fletching a passive skill.
Lastly, another advantage of Fletching is that you can do it wherever you are; you only need a knife, a chisel, and the necessary materials, making this skill the best way to profit while bank standing.
Getting Started with Fletching Money Making in OSRS
Interestingly, Fletching becomes profitable from level 55, and as we mentioned, low-level Fletching will make you lose money, so reaching this level as fast as possible is the goal.
Fortunately, Fletching is a fast skill to level up. You can begin by doing quests that reward you with a Fletching experience. We recommend the following:
- Big Chompy Bird Hunting
- Animal Magnetism
- Zogre Flesh Eaters
- Temple of Ikov
These early quests with very low requirements reward players with 11,262 Fletching experience in total, taking them to level 30 without losing money.
After completing these quests, you must start with low-level Fletching methods to level up the skill. You can use Zero Time Methods like making bronze or iron darts while you do another task. We recommend making iron over bronze darts since you can cast High Alchemy on them for a couple more coins and minimize your losses.
Fletching Money Making OSRS: Making Unstung Bows
Once you reach level 55 in Fletching, you’ll need to focus on crafting longbows to make money. Forget about crossbows, darts, and short bows. If you want to make money by Fletching ranged weapons, making unstrung longbows is the way.
To do this, you will need your knife and some logs. You can buy the logs at the Grand Exchange or cut some trees for some Woodcutting experience.
This method is very AFK-friendly, so you can be on your phone while making good money with Fletching.
Fletching Unstrung Maple and Yew Longbows
Maple and Yew longbows are very popular ranged weapons in OSRS. Money making by Fletching these unstrung bows can be very profitable. At level 55, you can start crafting unstrung maple longbows, and at level 70, you can make unstrung yew longbows.
The requirements to craft these weapons are as follows:
- Fletching 55 for unstrung maple longbows
- Fletching 70 for unstrung yew longbows
- 200K gold is recommended for maple longbows
- 400K gold is recommended for yew longbows
- Knife
- Maple logs
- Yew logs
At maximum efficiency, you should make a profit of 111K GP/hour for unstrung maple longbows and 159K GP/hour for unstrung yew longbows, receiving 87.2K and 112.5K of Fletching experience, respectively. You can purchase the maple and yew logs at the Grand Exchange or cut them yourself; you only need level 45 Woodcutting for maple trees and level 60 for yew.
Alternatively, if the price on the Grand Exchange plummets, you can high alch these bows and receive 192 coins for each unstrung maple longbow and 384 for each yew longbow.
Fletching Money Making OSRS: Stringing Bows
A bow by itself is useless if it is not strung. Luckily, stringing bows is a good way to make money with Fletching, and since stringing bows is faster than making them, players can profit sooner too.
For stringing bows, it is necessary to have bowstrings, which can be bought on the Grand Exchange or made using flax in a spinning wheel, earning you some Crafting experience in the process. You can string the bows you created or buy unstrung bows, which is more efficient and profitable in some instances.
This method is not as AFK-friendly as fletching the bows in the first place, but it is more lucrative. We recommend stringing longbows since they are more profitable than any other ranged weapon.
Stringing Magic and Yew Longbows
According to the wiki, yew and magic longbows are the most profitable ranged weapons to string. You can start stringing these bows at Fletching levels 70 and 85, respectively. This method is the preferred Fletching money making by the OSRS community.
Yew longbows are stronger than maple longbows and can use rune arrows. On the other hand, magic bows have a special attack called powershot that is guaranteed to hit the target but consumes 35% of players’ special attack energy.
For stringing these longbows, you’ll need:
- Fletching 70 for yew longbows
- Fletching 85 for magic longbows
- 1,000,000+ gold recommended for yew longbows
- 2,000,000+ gold recommended for magic longbows
- Bow string
- (u) magic longbows
- Yew logs
- Knife
Making the (u) yew longbows from yew logs yourself is more profitable. In the case of magic longbows, we recommend buying them at the Grand Exchange since it is more convenient and faster that way.
At maximum efficiency, you can profit at a rate of 297K GP/hour for yew and 343K GP/hour for magic longbows, assuming you craft around 2400 of these in that period. You can earn 180K of Fletching experience for yew longbows and 219.6K XP for magic longbows.
Additionally, you can cast High Alchemy on these bows to increase your profit. Yew longbows can grant you 417K GP/hour each, and magic longbows will net players 448 GP/hour. Using this method is a good money making alternative, especially if you are playing as an Ironman.
Fletching Money Making OSRS: Making Bolts and Bolt tips
A good method for money making is fletching bolts and bolt tips. This is the best way to profit by crafting ammunition, so forget about arrows and darts; they are not profitable.
If you want to make bolts, you should focus on making tipped ones. You can attach a gem on the bolt to improve it, and even better, you can enchant these bolts using the Enchant Crossbow Bolt spell, giving them special effects that activate upon impact.
You can make these tips with the proper materials from an early Fletching level using your chisel or buy them at the Grand Exchange.
Making Pearl and Red Topaz Bolts tips
Money making by fletching bolt tips can be very lucrative, especially at lower skill levels. You’ll only need a cut gem and your chisel; you can craft an uncut gem or buy it at the Grand Exchange. It takes 81 seconds to cut the gem into the bolt tip, meaning you can make a ton of these in an hour.
The most lucrative are pearl and red topaz bolt tips; you can make these at Fletching levels 41 and 48, respectively. You can earn 155 GP for each red topaz bolt tip you make and 262 GP for each pearl tip. Assuming you made 1800 of these tips, your profit rate will be 279K GP/hour for crafting red topaz bolt tips and 471K GP for crafting pearl bolt tips.
The downside of this method is that it doesn’t give much experience. For each red topaz bolt tip crafted, you only receive 4 Fletching XP and 3 XP for each pearl bolt tip. This makes the method unpopular among players, but it is still a good way to make money nevertheless.
Making Ruby and Diamond Bolts
Making ruby and diamond bolts is another good method for Fletching money making in OSRS. They are used to make enchanted ruby bolts and enchanted diamond bolts, which require levels 49 and 57 in Magic, respectively.
Ruby bolts (e) and diamond bolts (e) are expensive, so if you want to profit, we recommend sticking to the disenchanted ones.
All the requirements are as follows:
- Fletching 65
- 5,000,000+ gold is recommended for ruby bolts
- 10.000.000+ gold is recommended for diamond bolts
- Ruby bolt tips
- Diamond bolt tips
- Adamant bolts
Ruby and diamond bolts are made by combining an adamant bolt with ruby or diamond bolt tips. You can make a ton of these bolts fast. In an ideal scenario, you can profit at a rate of 243K GP/hour when crafting ruby bolts and 378K GP/hour for diamond bolts, assuming you craft around 30,000 bolts in that period. You will gain 170.1K of Fletching experience for ruby bolts and 189K XP for crafting diamond bolts.
Fletching Money Making OSRS: Tips and Strategies
- Focus on reaching level 55 in Fletching. You can do it in two and a half hours with low-level Fletching methods like making darts, but you’ll lose about 30K GP. You can think of this as an investment into the future.
- Remember that fletchers can take advantage of Zero Time methods for faster skill leveling. You can make iron darts while running errands and high alch them later to minimize your losses.
- Unlike other skills, you can train Fletching wherever you are. You can craft bows and bolts in front of any bank, and that way, avoid running around and maximize your profit rate.
Fletching Money Making OSRS: FAQ
Is Fletching a good way to make money in OSRS?
Fletching is a mid-tier money-making skill. Other skills are more profitable, but Fletching is AFK-friendly and offers numerous fast money making methods. Moreover, if you can take advantage of the Zero Time methods, it can be a decent passive income option too.
Is Fletching profitable for Ironman accounts?
Fletching is a good skill to make money as an Ironman since you can cast High Alchemy on bows, strung or not, to get some extra coins. Just remember that some weapons are better to buy than craft; for example, stringing magic longbows is very profitable only if you buy the unstrung bows from the Grand Exchange, so you want to avoid crafting them.
What is the most profitable Fletching Money making method in OSRS?
According to the wiki, adding tips to dragon bolts is the most profitable Fletching method, but it is also highly complicated. It requires a large gold investment, and some options are not viable due to low supply, low trade volume of material or product, or low buy limits. Instead, OSRS players prefer stringing longbows, which is faster and more lucrative than other methods and requires much less gold since you can make your bow strings on low Crafting levels.
Concluding this Fletching Money Making OSRS Guide
Fletching has a lot of advantages: it levels up fast, is AFK-friendly, and is a reliable and lucrative high-level money making skill. But be cautious; Fletching methods can earn you money, but some will make you pull your hair. Read postWhat are the best money making skills in OSRS? Some have changed over time, but others remain as top player choices. Make sure to stick around till the end as we introduce you to the best of the best money making skills in Old School.
This guide focuses on OSRS’s top money making skills; some are F2P, and others P2P. Do not worry; we explained each thoroughly and gave advice and recommendations to help you make the most gold possible.
Disclaimer: These methods were tested by a maxed account, so you will need to have at least the recommended level to make a profit and remember that the money you can make will depend on the market’s demand. This is the case because most OSRS money making skills revolve around grinding for valuables in various instances, which have to be sold in the GE for profit.
OSRS Money Making Skills: The Best Skills to Profit
We present you with the twelve best money making skills in OSRS to make a quick buck. This section includes F2P and P2P methods that, when used correctly, will ensure players make the most money with each skill. Follow our recommendations and suggestions to get rich soon!
12. Herblore: Degrime Herbs
Herblore is an OSRS money making skill that allows players to make potions by mixing various herbs. This skill wasn't very profitable until 2021, and the introduction of the new spell, Degrime. It was soon after discovered to be a game-changer for Herblore. Moreover, players are using this spell to make money in OSRS while gaining experience in Herblore at the same time.
This spell, part of the Arceuus spellbook, allows players to clean all grimy herbs in the inventory with just one cast, which can then be sold at the Grand Exchange to make a profit.
To apply this method, you’ll need:
- A Kingdom Divided quest completed
- Herblore 50
- Magic 70
- Staff of Earth
- 67,000,000+ gold recommended
Selling degrimed grimy herbs like toadflax or ranarr weeds in the Grand Exchange can be very profitable. You can make up to 60K GP/hour and earn 64.8K experience in Herblore and 49.8K in Magic if you cast the spell at least 600 times per hour.
11. Woodcutting: Magic Trees
Woodcutting, along with fishing, is one of the standard OSRS money making skills and one of the more consistent methods due to its versatility. This is the case because players can cut magic trees while being AFK and sell the logs to players who need them for other skills, like Construction, Fletching, and Firemaking. You can also cast High Alchemy on the bows made from magic trees to get some coins if you are an Ironman.
For chopping down magic trees, you will need the following:
- Song of the Elves quest completed
- Woodcutting 75+
- Dragon or Crystal axe for Magic trees
- Attack 70 and agility 50 to wield a Crystal axe
- Elven Signet for Crystal Axe
- Lumberjack Outfit
- 75% Hosidius Favour to access the Woodcutting guild
You will need at least 60 Attack to wield the dragon axe or 70 Attack and 50 Agility to wield the crystal axe. Your profit should be around 131K GP/hr with 32.5K Woodcutting experience. We recommend wearing the Lumberjack outfit to boost the XP rates.
10. Fletching: Making Ruby Bolts
Fletching is the easiest skill in OSRS to level up. At level 55, you will start to make a profit with this skill, and you can achieve this level in two and a half hours!
Fletching is one of the best OSRS money making skills due to the high-value potential of the ruby bolts. They are used to make enchanted ruby bolts, which requires level 49 in Magic. Although not lucrative, enchanted ruby bolts are the most powerful ammunition in OSRS, putting ruby bolts in high demand.
All the requirements are as follows:
- Fletching 63
- 5,000,000+ gold recommended
- Ruby bolt tips
- Adamant bolts
Ruby bolts are made by combining an adamant bolt and ruby bolt tips, and you can make a ton of these bolts really fast. Unfortunately, you are restricted by the daily selling limit of the Grand Exchange, meaning you can end up with more bolts than you can sell and risk price changes. Another limit is the volatile gold price required to craft the ruby bolts since it could vary greatly. In an ideal scenario, you can profit at 243K GP/hour, assuming you craft around 30,000 ruby bolts in that period. You will gain 170.1K of Fletching experience too.
9. Magic: Casting Tan Leather
Magic is one of the best OSRS money making skills since there are a lot of methods to take advantage of. The most profitable is the Lunar Spell, called Tan Leather, obtained after completing the Lunar Diplomacy and Fremennik Diary quest.
The requirements for this method are:
- Lunar Diplomacy quest completed
- Fremennik Diary quest completed
- Magic 78
- 20,000,000+ gold
- Fire staff
- Astral runes
- Nature runes
- Blue dragonhides
- Lunar Spellbook
- Bryophyta's staff and Tome of Fire both charged (optional)
You can make a lot of coins depending on the piece of leather you use the spell on. At the time of writing this article, Black Dragon Leather is the most profitable, bringing in 600K GP/hour, assuming players manage to tan 2800 leather in that time.
8. Crafting: Dragonstone Jewelry
Crafting can be tricky, but it is one of the most profitable OSRS money making skills if you know what you are doing. Players usually avoid it due to its complexity since they need to apply a certain strategy to prevent losing coins.
Dragonstone jewelry is the most profitable item for crafting in the game. You can start making those at the mid-crafting level, but you’ll want to wait until level 90 to maximize your profits. For crafting dragonstone jewelry, you’ll need the following:
- A proper jewelry mold
- Gold bar
- Dragonstones
- Weight reducing clothes (recommended)
You can make a profit rate of 729.6K GP/hour if you craft 1200 of these items in one hour, with 120K crafting experience as a reward. Players can treat dragonstone jewelry with High Alchemy to try to increase the price, but at the moment, only the dragonstone bracelet will raise your profit margin by about 13%.
7. Smithing: Smithing Rune Items
According to the wiki, Smithing is also one of the best F2P money making skills in OSRS. Players will use this skill best by smithing rune items, like swords or armor. With this method, you can make up to 779.6K GP/hour and earn 202.5K Smithing experience.
You will need the following requirements:
- Smithing 99
- Hammer
- 30,000,000 coins
- Smiths' Uniform
The best location for smithing as a F2P player is at the Varrock West Bank, south of the Grand Exchange, because the anvil is very close by. With three runite bars, you can make one rune 2h sword, one rune plateskirt, or one rune platelegs. But note that the rune 2h sword is the most profitable of the three.
6. Prayer/Firemaking: Cremating Shade Remains
Prayer has not been a very profitable skill for some time, but this changed in 2021 with the rework of the Shades of Mort'ton quest, putting Prayer among other most lucrative OSRS money making skills. Now, you can access a minigame where, among other things, you can cremate shadows’ remains and receive a golden key to open a special chest in the catacomb.
The requirements for this method are:
- Shades of Mort'ton quest completed
- Firemaking 95
- Morytania legs 3 for teleporting to Burgh de Rott (optional)
- Gold coffin or Silver coffin for storing more remains (optional)
This method is the best and only way to profit with Prayer. According to the wiki, this method yields a whopping 1M GP/hour, assuming you cremated 350 shades in that time.
Since you need to create a pyre, Firemaking is also required for this method to work. Cremating shade remains will give you 240K Firemaking XP/hour and 57,6KPrayer XP/hour.
We also recommend having the Hard Morytania Diary for 50% more Prayer experience and the Elite Morytania Diary for 50% more Firemaking experience.
5. Runecrafting: Crafting Blood Runes
For most players, Runecrafting is the best or one of the best OSRS money making skills. Blood runes are the best option to make money with, even at their lowest price on the Grand Exchange. However, note that many items and a high Agility level are required for certain shortcuts to make your runs more efficient.
You will need to meet the following requirements:
- Sins of the Father quest completed
- Enter the Abyss quest completed (if using the Abyss)
- Runecrafting 77
- Colossal pouch
- Blood tiara or talisman, catalytic tiara or talisman
- Charged amulets of glory
- Weight-reducing clothing
- Raiments of the Eye set for additional runes and to replace a tiara
- Elite Lumbridge & Draynor Diary (if using fairy rings)
- Rings of dueling (optional)
- Max, Crafting, or Construction cape for teleports (optional)
- Mining 78 (optional)
- Agility 74 or 93 for shortcuts (optional)
With these requirements met you can make up to 75 trips to the Blood Altar per hour, craft around 9.6K blood runes, and sell them for 1.7M GP. You will also gain nearly 50K in Runecrafting experience.
You can use blood essences obtained in the Tomb of Amascut to have an extra 50% chance of crafting extra runes and the Raiments of the Eye set to receive 60% more runes.
4. Agility: Hallowed Sepulcher
It may sound weird, but Agility is another one of OSRS’s best money making skills. With a high enough level, you can do The Hallowed Sepulcher and earn lots of coins.
The Hallowed Sepulcher is an Agility activity players can do solo. The idea is to avoid obstacles to reach the Grand Hallowed Coffin and loot other coffins before the time runs out. You can earn up to 2M GP/hour if you have 92 in Agility and access to the fourth and fifth floors.
The requirements for this Agility method, in particular, are considered to be high:
- Sins of the Father quest completed
- Agility 92 to allow access to floor 5
- Thieving 66
- Prayer 54
- Construction 56
- Ranged 62 to complete skill challenges and loot coffins
- Full graceful
- Vampyre dust
- A crossbow
- Planks/nails
- Runes for an enchant spell
- Saw
- Strange old lockpick or a normal lockpick
- Prayer book or antipoison
- Stamina potion.
- hallowed grapple
- hallowed hammer
- hallowed focus
- hallowed symbol
- The Great Brain Robbery to use the prayer book (optional)
You will need a lot of patience while learning the floors, but once you know what you are doing, the Agility skill in Hallowed Sepulcher will help you make 2M gold per hour and award you with 75K Agility experience, 7,2K XP in Thieving, 1,2K in Prayer, 1,8K in Magic, and 6,3K in Construction.
3. Combat: Killing Vorkath
Combat is a skill that indicates the difficulty of defeating a player, NPC, or monster in a fight and is composed of offensive and defensive skills such as Attack, Strength, Defense, Range, Hitpoint, Magic, and Prayer. Training these skills will increase your overall Combat level, which is crucial to thrive in battle, fight bosses, and complete quests. You can check your level of combat using a calculator.
Combat is one of the best OSRS money making skills because of Vorkath. Facing the zombie dragon has been the community's favorite way to earn good coin with this skill for years. The dragon can get you an absurd amount of GP, but the requirements are high. You can check our Combat money making guide to find the best strategies.
For killing Vorkath, you will need the following:
- Dragon Slayer II quest completed
- Range 90+
- Attack 90+
- Strength 90+
- Hitpoint 90+
- Prayer 74+
If you want to vanquish this dragon with ranged weapons, you will need the following gear:
- Dragon hunter crossbow with Diamond dragon bolts (e)
- Elite void knight equipment with void ranger helm
- Ava's assembler (or other Ava's device)
- (ei) Dragonfire ward
- Salve amulet
- Archers ring (i)
- Pegasian boots
And if you want to face Vorkath with melee weapons for extra GP, you’ll need:
- Dragon Hunter lance
- Torva full armor set with Primordial boots and Ferocious gloves
- Rada's Blessings
- Avernic or Dragon Defender
- Ultor ring
You should be able to accumulate roughly 2.4M GP if you kill Vorkath anywhere between 30-34 times in an hour. Vorkath is the penultimate boss in the Dragon Slayer II quest, and after completing it, you can fight Vorkath again, but it will be more difficult to slay.
2. Thieving: Pickpocketing Elves
Pickpocketing the Prifddinas elves is by far the best method to make money with the Thieving skill. You must employ your stealth skills to effectively make money from this strategy.
- Song of the Elves quest completed
- Thieving 85+ (99 recommended)
- Agility 50 for Rogue equipment
- Magic 47+ recommended for Shadow Veil
- Decent amount of Hitpoints
- Herblore 93 recommended
- Thieving cape
- Rogue equipment
- Food, like Anchovy Pizza, for healing
- Dodgy necklaces
- Hard Ardougne Diary
- A Kingdom Divided Quest completed to use Shadow Veil (optional)
You are guaranteed double loot if you wear a full Rogue outfit. Pickpocketing elves allow you to acquire crystal shards and enhanced crystal teleport seeds, which are very valuable since they can be used for making divine super combat potions with the appropriate level of Herblore. This potion is in high demand and can be sold at the Grand Exchange.
According to the wiki, pickpocketing elves can reward you with 158K Thieving experience, and you’ll have a profit rate of 2.7M GP/hour, making this method one of the most profitable non-combat OSRS money making skills.
1. Slayer: Alchemical Hydra
Slayer is the most or one of the more popular OSRS money making skills. The difference between this skill and Combat is that there are certain monsters that you aren’t allowed to kill if you don’t have the required Slayer level. Meaning you can only slay them if the Slayer Master tasks you to do so. This step is not required for slaying combat-based monsters.
In 2023, not much has changed. The mighty Alchemical Hydra is still the most lucrative non-combat boss to take on. The requirements to kill the Hydra are high, and if you want to slay this monster, you will need the following:
- Slayer 95
- Ranged 75+ recommended
- Prayer 74+ recommended
- Hitpoints 85+ recommended
- Slayer helmet (i)
- Boots of brimstone
- Ranged armour
- Twisted bow or Toxic blowpipe
- Barrows gloves
- Necklace of anguish
- Ava's assembler (or other Ava's device)
- Ring of the gods (i)
- Food and potions
- Rada's blessing 3 or 4 for teleporting to the dungeon
- Hydra slayer task
- Fairy ring code CIR to access the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon (requires Agility levels 29 and 62 for shortcuts)
The downside of this method is that it cannot be done whenever. Players must start a Hydra task with the slayer master Konar Quo Maten to hunt this monster. If you can slay 25 Alchemical Hydras per hour, you will have a profit rate of 3.6M GP and earn 33K Slayer and 175K Combat experience.
OSRS Money Making Skills: Tips and Strategies
- When crafting blood runes, remember that you must repair the colossal pouch every eight trips if you are not wearing the Runecrafting cape or max cape. You can fix your colossal pouch by talking to the Dark mage in the abyss or using the spell NPC Contact.
- If you complete the Song of the Elves quest, you can use the Prifddinas furnace to craft dragonstone jewelry. You will increase your profit rate since this furnace is closest to a bank.
- When you smith rune items, you can increase your smithing rate if you wear the Smiths' Uniform obtained from the Giants' Foundry.

Read postCrafting is a lucrative way to make money in OSRS, but it is a very tricky one. You can easily have losses, especially at lower levels and for new players who don't know what they are doing. That is the reason people tend to avoid this skill.
But Crafting could be very lucrative, especially on high levels, and it can be very AFK-friendly. You just have to remember that you must make the right coin investment to ensure profits, as it is said: “You need to spend money to make money.”
We will focus on Crafting methods in different stages of the game and remember that the higher the level, the higher the reward. In this OSRS Crafting money making guide, P2P and F2P methods are included.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: Advantages of Crafting
People usually ask the question: What is Crafting good for in OSRS? It’s a skill that allows players to create items such as armor, jewelry, pottery, and more. Moreover, some quests require certain Crafting levels, so you should level it up.
The advantage of Crafting money making methods in OSRS is that they are very AFK-friendly; you can multitask while making easy money. Some players used to stay away from Crafting since it requires a proper strategy to avoid losing money.
But with good guidance, Crafting can be very profitable, even more than the other skills like Woodcutting or Fishing, making Crafting one of the best money making skills for F2P in OSRS.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: Leveling Your Crafting
Before you start to make money, you need to level your Crafting at least to level 7. Most low-level methods, with a few exceptions mentioned later, will make you lose money until you have a high enough level of skill to craft more expensive items.
You want to get level 7 Crafting as fast as possible. You can do some quests that reward you with Crafting experience, but if you don’t feel in the mood for questing, crafting leather gloves is the best option for beginners.
Crafting Leather Gloves
This method is the fastest to achieve level 7 in Crafting. For each leather glove, you’ll only need the following:
- 1 Needle
- 1 Thread
- 1 Leather
Note that this method will make you lose money since the cost of the materials used to make leather gloves outweighs the price they can be sold for. You can see it as an investment to reach higher levels of Crafting.
Quests with Crafting Rewards
If losing money doesn’t make you feel comfortable, you can try doing some quests to gain Crafting XP. You can check the wiki for the list of quests that reward you with the most experience. We recommend the following quests:
- Goblin Diplomacy
- Sheep Shearer
- Misthalin Mystery
- Dwarf cannon
The only two F2P quests that reward you with Crafting experience are Goblin Diplomacy and Sheep Shearer. We recommend the second since it is faster; you can buy the wool needed at the Grand Exchange instead of doing the errand, and you’ll be rewarded with 150 Crafting XP.
For members, we recommend Misthalin Mystery and Dwarf Cannon. They will award you 600 and 750 Crafting XP, respectively, and they don’t need other requirements.
You can receive lots of XP through questing, but the downside is that it takes time. Crafting leather gloves is faster than doing quests.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: Low-Level Crafting
Now that you have achieved level 7, you can start to perform more profitable Crafting methods. It is knowing that Crafting becomes more lucrative as you increase its level since you’ll fail less, so keep that in mind.
The goal is to reach Crafting level 99. At that level, your success rates will be maximized, and you will have an optimal profit rate. So, let’s get started with methods that will help you earn experience while making money.
Gold Bracelets and Jewelry
At level 7, you can craft gold bracelets and jewelry, which are very lucrative. You can make these items in any furnace with gold bars and proper molds. Since the bracelet mold is only available for members, crafting gold bracelets is a better option for P2P players. F2P players can make a good profit with other gold jewelry like rings and amulets. The requirements for crafting these items are:
- Gold bar
- Bracelet mold or the respective jewelry mold
- Weight reducing clothes (recommended)
We recommend crafting gold necklaces since they are more profitable. By crafting bracelets, you can make a profit of 195K GP/hour and gain 30K Crafting experience. For crafting gold necklaces, your profit rate will be 117.6K GP/hour with 24K Crafting XP, assuming you made 1200 items per hour. This could vary depending on your Crafting level.
Bow strings
Crafting Bow strings is an easy OSRS Crafting money making method that can net you a decent profit. You can start at level 10, but we recommend starting at level 20 earliest. You only need a flask and a spinning wheel. You can use the spinning wheel located in Lumbridge or the one in the Crafting Guild.
This method doesn’t provide much experience but is good for making money, and you can make a profit rate of 110-130K GP/hour, making around 1200 bow strings in that time. Players use the bow strings to make bows with the Fletching skill, so that’s what increases their demand.
This method is very AFK-friendly and is only available to P2P players.
Low-Level Gems and Jewelry
Cutting Gems is another OSRS Crafting money making method you should explore. You only need a chisel and the respective uncut gem. Starting at level 1, you can cut opals and gain lots of experience, and you’ll begin to see profit from level 20 with a rate of 1521 GP/hour up to level 99, when your profit rate will be 118.5K GP/hour. Cutting opals is only available on P2P servers.
If you want to explore a F2P method of cutting gems, at level 20, you can cut sapphires, and at level 27, you can cut emeralds. They are not very profitable on their own, but with gold bars and the proper mold, you can make jewelry that can be sold for profit.
Crafting sapphire jewelry is the most profitable F2P OSRS Crafting money making method, followed by crafting emerald jewelry. You can earn 151K GP/hour for emeralds and 163K GP/hour for sapphires, earning 66K Crafting XP/hour or 78K XP/hour, respectively. We recommend crafting necklaces since you can cast High Alchemy on them. We suggest doing this on the necklaces since the profit then becomes 50% higher. You can earn 146 gold for each high-alched sapphire necklace and 166 for each emerald necklace, roughly 50 coins more than selling them unalched.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: Mid-Level Crafting
We are well on our way to level 99. If you feel your progress has been slow lately, you’re ready to start with mid-level Crafting methods.
The mid-level OSRS Crafting money making methods are profitable, particularly for P2P players, and give lots of XP. Remember that the bigger the Crafting level, the bigger the profit, so let’s get started.
Snakeskin Items
At around level 40, you can start crafting snakeskin items. This is a very profitable OSRS F2P Crafting money making method since you can make up to 120K GP per hour, and you’ll be rewarded with 75K XP. To make snakeskin items, you’ll need:
- Snakeskins
- Needle
- Thread
- Willow shield
- Hammer for the snakeskin shield
- 15 iron nails for the snakeskin shield
Players can acquire a huge supply of snakeskin while bossing since Zulrah drops 35 after being slain. We recommend crafting snakeskin shields, which are very profitable, and snakeskin boots since they are in high demand by PKers.
Silver Bracelets
Another P2P OSRS money making method is crafting silver bracelets of semi-precious gems. Topaz and jade are the way to go. You'll need at least level 40 in Crafting to assemble these items, and you’ll also need:
- Silver bars
- Red topaz
- Jade
- Bracelet mold
- Weight-reducing clothes (recommended)
When enchanted, the topaz bracelet becomes the bracelet of slaughter, which is very popular for slayer tasks. It is possible to make up to 1200 bracelets in an hour to achieve a rate of 339K GP/hour and 90K XP for crafting topaz bracelets and 295K GP/hour and 72K XP for crafting jade bracelets.
Ruby Jewelry
Crafting ruby bracelets is not as profitable as emeralds or sapphires but rewards you with lots of Crafting experience, helping you reach higher levels faster. You can craft ruby jewelry in any furnace, and to do so, you’ll need the following:
- A proper jewelry mold
- Gold bar
- Rubies
- Weight reducing clothes (recommended)
With this OSRS Crafting money making method, you can craft 1200 pieces of ruby jewelry in one hour to attain the profit rate of 150K GP/hour. This is less than half as when crafting emerald jewelry, but the Crafting experience earned will be over 100K. Like with the other jewelry, you can cast High Alchemy on these items to improve their values. We recommend doing this on ruby rings and necklaces since it can double their price.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: High-Level Crafting
Now that you have reached level 99 Crafting, what remains is to make as much money as possible, so we present you the best OSRS high level Crafting money making methods.
Once you reach level 99, you can purchase the Crafting cape and the Crafting hood for 99,000 coins each. The hood is solely a cosmetic item, but the cape can be used to enter the Crafting guild without wearing a brown or golden apron. When equipped or sitting in your inventory, you can teleport unlimited times to the Crafting guild, which offers quick access to a bank.
The following items could have been crafted on earlier levels, but your profit margin wouldn’t be as high as now. Of course, the profit obtained with these methods can vary depending on your speed and efficiency.
Red Topaz
Cutting gems with your chisel is a profitable OSRS Crafting money making method, but red topaz is an exception. You can cut red topaz on level 16, but it will only become profitable at level 90 since there is less chance of you breaking the gem and losing materials during the process.
Red topaz is in high demand since you can enchant red topaz amulets to make Burning amulets that can teleport players to the Wilderness up to 6 times. Cutting red topaz can yield a profit rate of 300K GP/hour and an hourly XP rate of 70K.
Diamond Bracelets
Crafting diamond bracelets is a very fast Crafting P2P money making method. We recommend buying the diamonds instead of cutting them to avoid money losses. To craft these bracelets, you’ll need:
- Gold bars
- Bracelets mold
- Diamonds
- Weight reducing clothes (recommended)
You can start crafting diamond bracelets at level 58, but waiting until level 90 is recommended to make better use of your time. The downside of this and bracelet crafting, in general, is that it is not very AFK-friendly since the required items occupy a lot of inventory space, and you'll need to bank them constantly.
You can craft this item in any furnace and make gold at a rate of 200K an hour with a 95K experience as a byproduct, assuming you craft 1200 bracelets in one hour.
Dragonstone Jewelry
Dragonstone jewelry is the most profitable item to craft in the game. You can start making these from earlier Crafting levels, but you'll want to wait for level 90 to maximize your profits. To craft dragonstone jewelry, you’ll need the following:
- A proper jewelry mold
- Gold bar
- Dragonstones
- Weight reducing clothes (recommended)
You can make a profit of 729.6K GP if you craft 1200 of these items in one hour and gain 120K Crafting experience. Players can enchant dragonstone jewelry to increase the price, but at the moment, we only recommend enchanting dragonstone bracelets, as doing so will almost double your profit margin.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: Crafting at the Soul Altar
Now that your Crafting is at level 99, you may feel like you can achieve even more. We recommend crafting soul runes at the Soul Altar for those eager adventurers. This method requires other skills besides Crafting, but we are making an exception for those high-level players looking for a challenge.
Soul runes in OSRS are used for spells like Teleother, curse spells, Blood Barrage, Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Dragonstone), shadow spells, and most reanimation spells.
The requirements for this method are as follows:
- Enter the Abyss quest complete
- Runecraft 90
- Mining 38 (to mine dense essence blocks)
- Crafting 38 (to chip dark essence blocks)
- Hitpoints 70+
- Agility 70+(optional)
- Thieving (optional)
- Multiple amulets of glory (≥15 recommended)
- Ring of dueling (optional)
- Any pickaxe
- Protective gear mixed with weight-reducing clothing
- Chisel
- Raiments of the Eye set for additional runes
- 100% Arceuus favour
You may be wondering, isn’t soul rune used in Runecrafting? The answer is yes, but since you only need a mid-level in Crafting for this method and it rewards you with lots of Crafting experience, we decided to include it.
Crafting soul runes can be a highly intense making method. You’ll need to:
- Mine dense essence blocks in the mine
- Run to the Dark altar and turn them into dark essence blocks
- Chip them with your chisel into dark essence fragments
- Go back to the rock and repeat until your inventory is full
- After this, you’ll need to teleport to Edgeville with the amulet of glory and go to the soul altar
- Repeat the process
Doing this can net players 204 soul runes per trip, and doing eight trips per hour can yield 616K GP, 49.5K Runecraft XP, 4,896 Mining XP, and 6,528 Crafting XP.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: Tips and Strategies
- Cutting gems is a good way to level Crafting to 99. You can start cutting opals at level 1 up to 90, then switch to cutting red topaz. You’ll make a good profit on the way too.
- If you are a F2P player, you can also try cutting sapphires and emeralds to gain decent experience and money until you reach level 50. Then, you can make highly profitable jewelry with the cut gems.
- We recommend using the furnaces in the Prifddinas and Edgeville for your Crafting since they are the closest to the banks. The Prifddinas one is the closest, but you must complete the Song of the Elves quest to access it.
- You must always consider the cost of the material used for crafting to have a good profit margin. Keep an eye on the Grand Exchange for bargains.
- Crafting can be a decent AFK money making method, but not paying attention can reduce your speed and efficiency, affecting your earnings, so check on your character frequently!
OSRS Crafting Money Making: FAQ
What is the most profitable F2P Crafting Money Making in OSRS?
It would be crafting emerald jewelry. It can net players a profit of over 300K, and High Alchemy can be used to increase the value. Crafting sapphire jewelry is also a good option. We recommend it over Crafting diamond jewelry since cutting sapphires gives more XP, and the price of the diamond at the Grand Exchange could be inconsistent.
What is the highest-selling crafted item?
According to the wiki, crafting drift nets and making sacred oil are the most profitable items a player can craft. However, we didn’t include them in this guide since players require an additional ability to craft these items, like Attack or Construction. For Crafting aficionados, dragonstone jewelry is the best option for making money with Crafting.
OSRS Crafting Money Making: Conclusion
Money making with Crafting in OSRS can be very lucrative. It is more complex than other skills since you need to have a clear idea of what items to craft in order to calculate your profit margin and avoid making losses. But if you follow this guide, you can make tons of money and gain precious Crafting experience with minimal losses.
