Cooking Gauntlets OSRS: How To Get Them

What are Cooking Gauntlets?

Cooking gauntlets are a pair of gloves available after the completion of the quest the Family Crest, along with the goldsmith and chaos gauntlets. They are an item that can be worn in the gloves slot to significantly lower the rate of which you burn food whilst cooking them, specifically the following: lobsters, swordfish, monkfish, sharks and anglerfish. They do not work on the other types of food.

How do I obtain the Cooking Gauntlets?

In order to upgrade and obtain this enchantment on your Family Crest gauntlets, you must bring the steel gauntlets that you were rewarded from the Family Crest quest to Caleb, in the house north of the archery shop in Catherby.

(Note: if your gauntlets have a different enchantment on them already, Caleb will ask you to pay 25,000 coins).

If the gauntlets are destroyed or lost due to death, these gauntlets can always be re-obtained free of charge from Dimintheis in south-east Varrock and they will have the same enchantment on them.

You may also furthermore complete the Family Pest quest, which allows you to redeem the cooking gauntlets from Caleb at any time. It also allows you to own multiple pairs at no additional cost, as well as multiple forms of the gauntlets simultaneously; Cooking, Chaos and Goldsmith Gauntlets.

Why should I get the Cooking Gauntlets?

So you ask why? Well, the answer is simple. If you wish to reduce the rate at which you burn your food whilst cooking, not only does this increase your XP rate, but also saves you money and a lot of time! This is because it has hidden boosts, which provide you with a drastically lower Cooking level needed than normal, to stop burning the specific kind of fish mentioned in this guide.

Find below the table which provides the information when you have the Cooking gauntlets equipped.

What other forms of the Steel Gauntlets are there?

Chaos Gauntlets

Chaos gauntlets are a pair of gloves which are unlocked after completing the Family Crest quest. The gauntlets, when equipped, increase the maximum damage done by all Bolt spells by 3, therefore, making the max hit of a specific bolt spell only 1 behind the blast spells of the same element. These gloves can first be obtained by bringing steel gauntlets to Johnathon, one of the sons in the Family Crest quest.

Johnathon is located upstairs in the Jolly Boar Inn, which is northeast of Varrock.

Note: If the gauntlets are lost, they can be re-obtained for no charge from Dimintheis in Varrock.

Goldsmith Gauntlets

Goldsmith gauntlets are one of the three possible glove rewards from Family Crest quest, along with Chaos gauntlets and Cooking gauntlets. They can be obtained by bringing the magical steel gauntlets to Avan, who can be found in the Al Kharid mine.

The Goldsmith gauntlets increases the experience gained from smelting gold ore into a gold bar, from 22.5 to 56.2 experience — around 2.5 times more than if you did not have the gauntlets equipped.

Note: If the gauntlets are lost, they can be re-obtained for no charge from Dimintheis in Varrock.
