How to Get to Sand Crabs [OSRS] (Fastest Way)

What can I find Sand Crabs?

They are NPCs that are very similar to the very popular ‘Rock Crabs’. The only difference is that they have a boost of 10 more HP than Rock Crabs – 60 Hitpoints, which in return has made it an alternative to Rock Crabs training, and even more populated due to the higher HP, meaning higher XP rates.

Sand Crabs are aggressive monsters that look like harmless sandy rocks at first, but once you get close to them, they’ll start attacking you. One of the reasons why Sand Crabs are so good to train on is that you don’t need to have any requirements to travel to Sand Crabs, every player willing to put in the little effort to get to Great Kourend (particularly in Zeah), where the Sand Crabs are located, can train their combat skills on them. There is also a bank nearby which makes it easy to restock on food and potions whenever it is needed.

How much XP does each Sand Crab give?

Sand Crab has a level 15 Combat Level and 60 HP. A single Sand Crab gives 240 XP. Depending on your Combat level, you can get anywhere from 10k to 45k XP per hour.

How can I efficiently AFK Train on Sand Crabs?

Sand Crabs allow AFK training in some specific spots, with just a little attention needed a player can train their combat skills. The max hit of a Sand Crab is 1, and therefore this is also a very good, if not one of the best training spots for pures or other low-level defence players. Even though Sand Crabs are AFK-able, there’s a limit. After ten minutes Sand Crabs will start becoming unaggressive, meaning that they won’t attack you anymore which eliminates the whole AFK training, but don’t worry, there’s a solution! When the Sand Crabs start becoming unaggressive after 10 minutes, you can simply run far away from them and come back to make them aggressive again. You’ll need to run away from the surroundings of the Sand Crabs, roughly the same distance as the diameter of the mini-map.

How can I get to Sand crabs the quickest way?

Traveling to Sand Crabs takes a little bit of effort, but it’s not hard or difficult at all. It’s just located in a remote place which requires a bit of traveling in order to get there. There are tons of ways to get there, but these methods require special requirements, so in this guide we’ll be using a method that everyone can use, so no requirements at all. We advise you to bring weight-reducing gear, so you can travel faster and your stamina won’t run out that fast.

The first step is to go to Port Sarim, which is a town in southeastern Asgarnia. You can go to Port Sarim by using the Explorer’s ring to teleport to the Cabbage patch, which is just above Port Sarim. You can also head south from Falador, southwest from Barbarian Village, head west from Al Kharid, Lumbridge, or Draynor Village. Plenty of ways to get there! Once you get to Port Sarim, you need to talk to port master Veos and take a ship to Great Kourend's, Piscarilius House. Once you’ve taken the ship to Great Kourend's, Piscarilius House, you need to run all the way south on the other side of the continent until you arrive at the beach where the Sand Crabs are located. Below is an image of where you should go, simply open up your minimap and go to the location pointed out on the image below, and you should be able to go there without any problems!

Alternatively, here are a few other methods if you have these routes unlocked:

  • Use Xeric's talisman to teleport nearby using the teleport marked "Xeric's Glade."
  • Use the skills necklace to teleport the Woodcutting Guild then run.
  • Use the Fairy Ring code D-J-R and run East, then South. (With 45 Agility you can use the stepping stones east of the Infirmary.)
  • Use the Kharedst's memoirs book to teleport to Hosidius then follow the river south, crossing east over the bridge.
  • Use the Minigame teleport to the Tithe farm and run. This may require having used it once, which in turn requires 100% Hosidius favour.
  • With access to the Lovakengj Minecart Network (requires 65% favour with the Lovakengj House), 45 Agility, and either 50 coins or having unlocked 'free' transport with 100,000 coins: from Veos, run west and slightly north. Take the minecart to House Hosidius, then run southeast. Use the stepping stone to cross the river (45 Agility), then run south to the beach.
  • Having unlocked Teleport to Kourend and with 69 Magic, use the teleport, run south-southeast, cross the bridges on the way - the eastern bridge across the river if you don't have 45 Agility, and down to the beach.
  • Likely the fastest method, you can either: Move your house to Great Kourend with 25 Construction and 8,750 coins, teleport to your house, exit the portal, and run south; or, you could use Scrolls of redirection on House teleport tablets (still requires 25 Construction) to get to the same place without having to move your house there, and you will already be outside the portal.

King Sand Crabs

As befits royalty, King Sand Crabs are a head taller than their inferior brothers. They are not a good target to AFK train Combat on because unlike their weakling subjects, they do have proper Combat stats. Do not let their similar looks deceive you for they are level 107 Combat as opposed to Sand Crabs that are level 15 Combat. Overall, Sand Crabs are one of the best ways to AFK train your Combat level. They are extremely forgiving to pures and as such, this method is one of the most attractive options for such accounts. Sand Crabs are in the pay-to-play area.
